Phonics and Reading Schemes

At Marshfield we do not follow one particular Phonics or Reading Scheme. We use the structure of Read, Write, inc to inform the planning of phonics and use activities from Letters and Sounds and Jolly Phonics. These are used alongside our Reading into Writing teaching sequence to ensure application of phonics in all aspects of English.

Vision Statement for Financial Education:

In order to further complement our curriculum, Marshfield has embarked on an exciting journey towards becoming a Centre of Excellence for Financial Education. In order to prepare our children for the life of work and becoming active citizens, we are providing them with a wide range of opportunities to learn and apply their knowledge and skills within this area of education, including giving them the means to learn how to manage their money and personal finances. Having a secure understanding of how managing finances and budgets effectively can impact on their future careers and lives is extremely important for all our children and therefore, we believe that as a primary school we can provide a strong foundation within this area in order for them to continue to flourish throughout the education system.
